Turner Firm Awarded Contract To Manage MSG Transformation

NEW YORK—Turner Construction Company announced on July 16 it had been selected to provide construction management services for the Madison Square Garden transformation in New York.

The full-scale transformation, which will be completed in phases, will be highlighted by a brand new 7th Avenue entrance, significantly wider concourses with views of the city, several new first-class food and entertainment amenities, improved sightlines, more comfortable seating, a dynamic new scoreboard, state-of-the-art lighting, sound and LED video systems in HDTV, 58 lower-level suites that are 50 percent larger and are 50 percent closer to events and 20 event-level suites that will be on the same floor as the playing surface.

Turner will also manage the restoration of Madison Square Garden’s iconic domed ceiling. In addition, two one-of-a-kind bridges, 200 feet in length will be constructed 70 feet above the playing floor, joining the east and west ends of the arena and allowing fans a spectacular unique viewing experience.

“Turner is proud to continue its longstanding relationship with Madison Square Garden that began with its original construction in 1968 and continues to the transformation of this world famous entertainment and sports venue, providing for the increased enjoyment of fans and for all who perform and compete at MSG,” said Charles Murphy, senior vice president and general manager of Turner’s New York Operations.
